Saj, in addition to his role as Founder of The Smarty Train, works across all practices.
He frequently works at senior, C-Suite and board level, regularly advising on issues relating to talent, strategy and business transformation.
An Economist by training, Saj started out as a Strategy Consultant at Accenture and then moved to EY’s Strategy Advisory Practice. There, he focused on the transformation of central government and received a ‘Best of the Best’ Award. One of his career highlights was being involved in London’s bid for the 2012 Olympics. He’s also registered on a global patent for a model that measures the value of public sector service delivery.
Besides some trips to Number 10, working with two Secretaries of State and writing his book, The Smarts (Penguin: 2019), Saj continues to pursue his interests in Accelerated Learning.
His work has been featured in the books “Licensing Occupations: Ensuring Quality or Restricting Competition (W E Upjohn Institute for Employment Research)” and “Unlocking Public Value (John Wiley & Sons)”.
During Covid-19, Saj led The Smarty Train’s response and its work with Essential Services, globally.
Outside of work, Saj is a Trustee of The University of London Convocation Trust, and Trustee of Young Enterprise, where his terms have recently been renewed for a further term.Saj also is a member of The Bank of England’s Decision Maker panel.
Saj has been awarded Freedom of the City of London, was nominated as one of a hundred faces of a Vibrant Economy and in 2021 his book The Smarts became an Amazon best-seller.
Saj has studied at Harvard University, University College London (UCL) and The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) where he received both a Graduate Merit Award and the Faculty Automation and Performance Award for outstanding academic performance.
