Sky partnered with The Smarty Train to help reinvigorate their graduate and apprenticeship programmes, including their induction. When Covid unexpectedly struck, Sky needed to quickly pivot their induction to virtual, while making sure their new joiners’ first day was as impactful as it would have been if they had been able to walk onto the Sky campus in person.

Using human-centred design, we engaged 250+ people across Sky in research and over 1500 hours of co-creation to design a virtual induction and onboarding experience that would achieve our three stated objectives.
Aligned with Sky’s culture anchored in growth mindsets, innovation and quick-paced agility, the onboarding redesign included learning interventions centred on key soft skills, and over 40 development challenges in graduates' first 90 days.
New joiners experienced an immersive, high-impact virtual induction that recreated that feel of walking into Sky’s impressive HQ campus. The programme successfully brought Sky's culture to life in a virtual environment, with 97% of participants feeding back that they’d recommend the experience to their peers.
The programme placed finalist for Best Development Programme at the ISE Awards 2021. TST's collaboration with Sky on the programme won Outstanding Employer and Supplier Development Partnership at the ISE Awards 2021.
