Driven by the ambition for its students to be the ‘stand out choice for employers’, and supported by its award-winning ‘Career Development Journey’, the University of Leicester wanted to move from the theory of work preparation to one of practice.

TST worked closely with University of Leicester stakeholders to design Smart48: an immersive 2-day experience for undergraduates, designed around ‘unlocking the future you’. Undergraduates learned key skills and behaviours relevant to the working world, and participants were kept on their toes with live game-changers adding pressure and complexity to timed challenges.
100% of participants said they felt more confident entering the workforce after attending Smart48, and 98% felt better prepared to apply for jobs. The project won Best Preparation for Work Initiative at the ISE Awards, and has since been presented at a Global Summit of University Careers Services as an exemplary student preparedness initiative.
