Challenge

Alter Domus had three new locations across EMEA that were growing rapidly. It was imperative for these 3 locations to quickly onboard new hires. However, the existing onboarding process was lengthy, ineffective, and not sustainable for their levels of growth.

Alter Domus approached The Smarty Train for support in designing an accelerated onboarding programme for their new joiners, as well as a learning design crash course that would equip their people with the necessary tools to better onboard their new joiners internally, thereby sustainably boosting speed-to-value for their inductees.

Solution

Following an immersion into the needs of the programme, The Smarty Train partnered with Alter Domus to launch a new intensive 6-day programme that would be delivered virtually by Alter Domus facilitators. Working collaboratively with Alter Domus’ Team, TST provided advisory and insight into how they could elevate their existing learning content, rather than have the sessions be designed from scratch.

In preparation of the 6-day programme, TST upskilled Alter Domus’ subject matter experts in experience design and delivery through a series of 5 half-day workshops with Design and Delivery experts from TST’s Solutions Team.

The workshops included new branded slide templates for Alter Domus’ team, and covered everything from how to write scripts, design learning handouts, structure sessions, facilitate breakouts and tell stories.

In order to deliver their sessions with the highest impact, each facilitator received follow-up one-on-one support from senior TST Solutions Team members, turning them from experienced accountants into confident learning designers and facilitators, capable of creating and delivering a world-class onboarding programme of their own.

Result

+ 100% of participants better understood how key behavioural science can be applied to Alter Domus content.
